Dr. Jena Questen

The best part of my day yesterday was simply not having anything major go wrong. Got to work ok despite the ice and cold (thankful for good tires, an old truck that starts reliably, and clear roads). Everything in our building is working as it should, water, power, heat, phones, internet, printers, and I am so grateful for all that. I am grateful I have vision and the ability to read and write. I am grateful to have so many animals around me all the time that I get to enjoy, those of my own and others. My favorite patient was a little dog yesterday with a very unusual disease, diabetes insipidus. My first case of this in my entire career. It makes the patient drink a lot of water and is difficult to diagnose and treat. We needed to clean her teeth to help keep her healthy. She did great for the procedure, we gave her a lot of words of encouragement throughout just to help her know we cared and wanted only the best for her. She came through the procedure perfectly. I am also grateful for that.

Today I woke up after a very deep sleep, feeling a little lost, like I belonged back in the dream world, and not here. I wrote in my journal, did a little meditation, worked on my to-do list for the day, and tried to regain a sense of balance in the world. I probably just spend some time outside, which will happen soon enough as I notice the sky turning a lighter shade of blue right now.

What are your big plans for this day, this gift? You may not know why right now, but if you woke up, then your life has a purpose, and meaning. We all have the whole day ahead of us, to spend however we wish. To do something good for ourselves, or others, or simply to have gratitude and do nothing, taking comfort that all is well, right here, right now. All is as it should be, you are safe, and worthy of all good things. So I hope you will hold onto this feeling and make the most of this beautiful day. Oh, and love and hug animals, that is probably the most important part,

You Animal Loving Angel. Have the most wonderful day!
