Dr. Jena Questen

What was the best part of your day yesterday? We were busy at work, my favorite part was having music playing in the treatment room all day. In between clients, Judy and I would do a little dance together to our favorite songs as we twirled around the room filling medications and gathering supplies. I am so grateful for the wonderful people I get to work with, and who stick with me.

My favorite part of today already is the snow! I am so grateful we are finally getting a little dusting of the white moisture that we need, that is so beautiful, and helps keep everything clean and bright. I love the snow.

I am so grateful for our dogs. Each one of them. Lately, especially our little covid dog Mochi. He came to us during that time, when no one was adopting puppies anymore. Covid was dragging on, the shelters were empty, but still, there were litters of puppies, yet, no one wanted them anymore. I saw this everywhere no matter how cute or purebred the pups were. One of our clients, a lady who rescues dogs, came in with this letter of 9 mixed breed pups for vaccines. She was baffled and frustrated that in all her years, she was not able to find homes for these pups.

One in particular came and looked at me, made direct eye contact with his beautiful black markings around his eyes. All the other pups wrestled, and growled, and barked, and jumped on each other, and he just came and sat and looked at me. I talked to him, he cocked his little puppy head. Deep sigh. What’s another dog? So the staff were excited to tell my kids, come quick girls, your mom fell in love with a puppy! They came running at top speed, expecting to see a rottweiler. When they saw this litter of short haired long nosed almost greyhound looking plain brown dogs, they stopped in their tracks in confusion. We pointed, and the girls said “HIM?” in disbelief. Yes, him. We named him Mochi.

Because Mochi was a covid dog, he is a little different than other dogs. He didn’t get much socialization, and he is very fearful of new people and situations. He gets stressed out easily. He is a very loving dog, who still states deeply into my eyes with deep adoration, and such a gentle, sweet, kind nature. He is very well behaved, you just still have to be careful to not spook him, he gets easily overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s annoying when he gets too scared by a door slamming in the distance, to eat his food, or even get out of the vehicle at the end of the work day when we get home. But we love him with his little quirks, and I have never for a minute regretted bringing him home. I am grateful for Mochi. And the girls love him too, and he also really loves them. I am grateful and lucky to have so much love around me. More please!

I am also grateful that despite the fact I ran out of gas, after warming the truck up for the dogs and then ending up on a lengthy end of day phone consult with a person very concerned for their little betta fish, I had a full can of gas with a funnel, and was easily and quickly able to get back on the road with little hassle. Grateful for that. And for the people who care so much about their little betta fish they will stay late by the phone waiting to speak to me about what we can do. I just love my fish clients.

I am also grateful that my little surprise is nearly ready to reveal! Stay tuned! So do something nice for yourself today, or someone else. Maybe do a little dance!
