Dr. Jena Questen

What are you happy about in your life right now? This is one of the questions to ask yourself each day. I am happy about the fact I got to stay at work yesterday helping clients, while Chelsea went to the Perfect Pitch on our behalf promoting the ResqRanch. So grateful for her!

I am also happy I got the unexpected call yesterday asking me if I would like to be on Great Day Colorado this Friday. Hooray! I always have a great time going on that live show, and believe it or not, it’s one of the highlights of the dog’s lives, as well. They absolutely love all the attention they get from everyone in the studio! I am grateful I will get the chance to talk about going to the Breeder’s Cup party on Saturday. There are still a few slots left, so if you want to join us please sign up here https://www.resqranch.org/breeders-cup-signup

I was sad to see Sovereignty was scratched from Saturday's races, but I am glad they are taking extra precautions with him. He still might end up as Horse of the Year anyway. But then, who do we think will now win the big race, the Breeder’s Cup Classic? I know a lot of people who really love Journalism, but the handicappers really like Fierceness, and I am just not sure yet. And it’s not just the Classic. Did you know that 55 international horses came into race this weekend? The Breeder’s Cup is a series of races over 2 days in several different divisions, it’s just the Classic on Saturday that most people know about and have the most interest in. But there are races for just female horses, young horses here to prove they have what it takes to be in the Kentucky Derby next May, older horses with lots of experience and still winning, some will run on the grass, or turf, others on the dirt….this is the very best horses from around the world coming in to prove who are the world champions. I, for one, am very excited about it. I also wish all the horses and jockeys to be safe.

Guess what I saw for the first time yesterday? The gravestone for my horse Taxi that I buried over 20 years ago and never had what it took to actually get a gravestone done for him. My family had it made for my birthday this year, and it took a while for it to get set, so I saw it for the first time yesterday. It was simply perfect. I am so grateful to my family for that gift. It’s losing him that led to my terrible leg fracture, but more on him another time. I have kind of been hoping that after the stone was set, my ankle would stop hurting. So far so good today!

Today I am grateful for my dogs, my team, my girls, my friends, my ResqRanch Board who are trying hard to help us advance our cause, and I am especially grateful for Dixie. She is the cutest little horse in the world. With her prancy step, and always eager to greet me from wherever she is, so happy to see us. She is definitely the most work of all the animals in the rescue. She is the oldest, is missing a lot of teeth, gets picked on by the others, needs special alfalfa hay to help keep her weight on (which we ran out of yesterday and I was not a happy camper that I got let down by my team), needs extra senior grain so it’s a constant having to get that stocked from the local feed store, and we keep her in a stall at night, so we have to buy lots of bags of wood shavings all the time, and clean her stall every day, and refill her water buckets which is about to getting even less fun as winter sets in. So little Dixie is a BIG part of our day but she is worth it! We love her! She is the only horse that ‘talks’ to us. When I see her stumble from the arthritis in her legs, and her little lower lip hand down because she is an elderly lady, I get a little sad knowing we will have to say good bye to her one day. But I am grateful we have her today. And although she is a lot of extra work and money and headache to take care of each day, she is worth it! If you would like to support us in taking care of little Dixie, please consider a monthly amount here https://www.coloradogives.org/organization/Resqranch

Tomorrow is Halloween, one of the most fun holidays of the year, hooray! What will you be? I hope something fun. Halloween is a great time to step out of your comfort zone which will raise your vibration and bring more good things into your life. So get out there and have some fun! And then post your pictures in the comments! Does your pet have a costume? What does that say about you? That you are fun, and lucky! And I hope really grateful for being so lucky as to be able to have a costume for your pet. Lucky in money, lucky in privilege, and lucky enough to love your pet enough to even want to do that. That is the greatest gift of all.
Be kind to yourself today, and have some fun.

Tell yourself in the mirror everything is working out, you are doing fine, you can get all of this done, you are feeling better, and getting better, little by little, every day. Sending you love, have a wonderful day!
