Today I am grateful for the little miracles that happen every day that often defy explanation. I am grateful I got to bed early and got extra sleep. I am grateful for bluetooth speakers that allow me to have podcasts in the shower. I am grateful for podcasts that I learn something new from most every day. I am grateful for all the animals around me that bring me, and so many other people joy.

Why do animals bring us so much joy? Just getting to look at them. Being near them. Touching them (when they let us). What is it exactly that makes us wonder, and smile, about them? The feeling they give us deep inside that is hard to put your finger on. Seeing an Elk mama and her baby crossing the highway in the middle of winter. Where did you and your baby spend the night mama? Did you feel safe? Are you hungry? How hard is it to survive the cold winter night without a barn, or shelter, or a heated water trough, like our rescue horses that never again have to fend for themselves (thanks especially to donors like you).

Thank you for being one of those people that wonder about, worry over, and appreciate animals. We get each other. And I am grateful for you.

Since you are such an awesome person, did you do anything nice for yourself yesterday? Well, guess what, you get another chance…today! It’s another opportunity to be kind to yourself, and not just giving constantly to others (like we animal people tend to do). It’s ok to give yourself a little love today. Take a moment to do something you enjoy. And if it’s only a moment, then take another moment to picture yourself a year or two from now, doing that for many moments, or, whatever would bring you the most joy.
