Dr. Jena Questen

I just saw the news headlines that more Mustangs were killed in the latest roundup. It's such a difficult situation for those animals, and it is not easy for the people in between trying to uphold the laws of the federal government, along with local regulations, and others, who have interests in the use of the land and making sure there is enough food and water for all. No one wants horses rounded up, but no one wants them to starve to death either, and there never seems to be any easy answers. The best you can do is educate yourself on the plight of these magnificent animals, and help spread awareness about their plight. And if you are able, please adopt a wild Mustang or burro and help keep them out of holding pens for the rest of their lives.

Today I am grateful for our three wild mustangs we were able to save from an unknown fate, Cesar, Chilli and Natalia. I am also grateful my ankle doesn’t hurt, that my cats, dogs, and even the rooster enjoy the healthy vegetable soup I made, I am grateful I have the skills and knowledge to just make soup out of random ingredients and have it be good and where my whole family enjoys eating it, I am grateful for the sunrise and that I woke up today, I am grateful for the rooster who makes me smile with his adorable little babbling conversations he contributes throughout the day, and I am grateful for my friends who text me beautiful images from their vacations, and the others who are struggling and ask me for advice. I am grateful to have friends and family. I am grateful to know about and am able to use R+, or positive reinforcement animal training, not only for training the mustangs, but all the animals in our sanctuary, including the rooster who is already target trained.

What about you, did you have a memorial St. Patrick’s day? My first pet rat was named Pat, because I didn’t know if she was a boy or girl at first. I am looking forward to one day being reunited with all of the pet rats I have had over the years (more than I can remember right now), and am grateful I was able to appreciate what wonderful little loving friends they can be. I hope you have many little (or big) animal friends and appreciate how much all the animals mean to so many people. We are very lucky to have animals in our lives.

Today, you are going to handle any challenges that arise with grace, and ease. Be excited for everything the day holds. You are worthy of love and respect, both from yourself, and others. Remind yourself of this today, and remember to nourish your body, inside and out. Today, choose to be kind to yourself, and others, and animals.

I am wishing you the best day ever, you Animal Loving Angel, and inevitable success for you. I hope on this beautiful Wednesday, that you are looking forward to all of the beautiful experiences just waiting for you, we just have to choose to see all the love and beauty, all around us. And if you need any help with any of your animals, remember, I am here for you, in any way that I can be. Have a wonderful day, and rely on your animals to give you peace and clarity when you are unsure. The perfect day is today, we got this!
