Dr. Jena Questen
If you haven't heard, we have been nominated for local non-profit of the year! Now, we need your help to win! All you have to do is download the Everything Evergreen app, x out of the add in the top right corner, click on the bottom LIVE/WORK/STAY, and it will take you right into the voting. And I know it's a few steps and few people enjoy downloading app's on their phone, but honestly it's pretty easy, and you can just delete the app after you don't want it. This little bit of action on your part, will REALLY help these beautiful animals you see on the screen, to live their best lives, for the rest of their lives, without ever having to worry about being sold off, or worse, sold to a slaughter auction. We really need your help! Thank you in advance, because I know you, and I know you will take a couple of minutes and do this for the horses, and the Donkey. Thank you!
Today I am grateful for Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Mustangs, Arabians, Frisians, Donkey's and all the four legged beauties!
I watched a video yesterday predicting that horses would have a more major impact in the lives of people this year than in the past. That this is the year more people will remember what it is to be with horses, after we left them mostly in the past after the invention of the car and steam engines. But the prophecy was not that more people would use horses for work or riding, but that more people would use horses to connect back to nature, to ourselves, and to what really matters in the world. Technology and the fears of Ai and everything else can often leave people feeling very disconnected. Horses are the ultimate grounding rod, because they are large, powerful, have a mind of their own. And when they want to connect, with you, the feeling is so powerful it drowns out everything else and helps us be completely present in that moment. That is magical indeed. I hope the prophecy is true.
As a veterinarian I have seen with my own eyes the rapid decline of horses in our lives. I drive through neighborhoods and where 2 or 3 horses used to stand in every other small acreage backyard, now, those corrals are empty, the wood fences rotting. Everywhere I go, I see horses less and less.
Back in 2011 when I was laying on the floor of a vandalized, burglarized house with not even a can opener to open food from the food bank for my toddler children, that is when the vision for the ResqRanch came to me. I wanted it to be in a beautiful mountain location with easy access tot he inner city, so kids, and adults, could come here and experience something special.
Now 15 years later, that dream has come true, I am happy to say. I would like to personally invite you to come for a visit, sign up to join the Girls Gone Wild Mustang Birthday party (great for kids), check out our videos, ask for videos you want but don't see on the channel, vote for us for non-profit of the year, donate if you can, and be sure to join our community over at ResqRanch.org where my Horse Training Masterclass is free until March 22, 2026 so you can take a deep dive into the science of positive reinforcement animal training.
Ok, you Animal Loving Angel, it's Thursday, what are you going to do with this beautiful day? Today, choose to see the positives in everything. Let go of what you cannot control. Remember, good things are happening for you. Strive to be comfortable and confident in yourself. Believe in yourself. I believe in you, because if you love animals, you are already on the path to a deeper understanding of what truly matters in life, am I right? So be kind to yourself, we are all just doing the best we can, every day, in every day. So when you go to sleep tonight, I hope you have a big smile on your face, happy with the choices you made, grateful for the gifts, and hopeful you get another chance to get even a little better, tomorrow.
Make it the best day ever!
