Today I am grateful for the cold rain outside this morning, because goodness knows we need the moisture. I am grateful for the great training session we had with our Donkey boy yesterday. He really wants to go to the Rodeo Parade it seems! I am still unsure who his companion will be, besides us. And you! If you are up to walking a mile with us on Father’s Day weekend. I am grateful I got to spend a little time with Natalia yesterday.
We worked on teaching her the ‘fence’ trick which involves asking her to line up sideways along a fence to allow someone to mount and dismount easily from the fence. She was pretty excited and definitely was thinking about rearing, but I rode her with only a neck rope to minimize having anything to fight against, and we had no issues with her, she did great!
I am grateful we put Sugar and Dixie into stalls last night. I am grateful for Budge the rodeo clown for giving us the funds we needed last summer to put more shelter up for the horses, and it made my heart glad to see them using the shelters yesterday. I am grateful for the little bit of green grass that is growing out in the field, and that the horses got to get out on it for a little bit yesterday, especially since it looks wet and cold for the next few days so they will need to stay in again until the weather improves. I am grateful we are getting our usual spring rain. Tomorrow is Rhoen’s birthday. I have always called her Rhoen of the rainstorm since it often rains on her birthday. And thankfully, it looks like it will be the same again this year.
We are creating lots of new things that I am very excited about, but don’t want to announce until we can get the details figured out. I am talking about packages on acupuncture at the hospital, along with a discounted Q Club which includes many client benefits like waived urgent care fees, and getting prioritization if you have an emergency with your animal. We have it pretty much finalized, we are just having a little trouble with our software on exactly how to track it. Luckily, I met a client on Saturday, a software developer, he said he could work with us to create our own app. That sounds very promising, so stay tuned as we work to get the details figured out on that.
And at the ranch, we also are figuring out new, better ways to help people with their horse training. We are developing a monthly program that will include access to private livestream training sessions, most likely with the young Mustangs, access to a private group for asking questions, a live 30 minute group coaching call with me once a month, and a monthly chance for you to send in a 2 minute training video and get my help on how to overcome any horse training issue using positive reinforcement if you don’t have a set time frame, or using LIMA (least intrusive minimally aversive) if you do.
I will also finally be releasing the Mustang Journal, which is the story of the first year with the two wild Mustang fillies Chilli and Natalia. If you like stories about horses, and to learn about horse training, especially with untouched wild babies, then you are going to love it. Stay tuned for that. I am always working hard in the background with my team trying to figure out more ways to help improve your life with animals. If you don’t already belong, be sure to sign up for our newsletter at ResqRanch.org so you can find out when we roll out these programs. And let me know in a comment on a video which things you are most looking forward to, to help us make sure we are on the right track.
So today is Monday, the start of a new week. I hope you are looking forward to it, fresh and rested after the weekend. I hope you take a moment this morning, my Animal Loving Angel, to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and visualize how great your day will be. The pleasant surprises, the friendly faces, and the unexpected laughter that is coming your way today on this beautiful day, this gift, we have been given. And don’t forget to wave at yourself in the bathroom mirror, and give yourself a high five, because you are doing great! Make today a most wonderful day, by giving thanks for waking up, and seek to find another who’s life you can improve today, thereby, making your own life, a little better.
Wishing you all the best, know I am there for you, and if you want to know what it’s like to volunteer with us, check out this video https://youtube.com/live/Dppu_-UUJb8?feature=share
