Dr. Jena Questen

👋 Hey animal lovers! Thanks for watching! 😊 In this video, we're sharing a glimpse of the farm, the horses, and the donkey, focusing on our animals and their well-being. We discuss elements of my 7-step pre-training checklist, that I call the 'pre-flight' checklist, so you don't take an unexpected flight off your horse! It includes friends, freedom, and food, all with a focus on positive reinforcement. Checking to make sure our horses and donkey are healthy on the inside and outside is always a priority here at the ranch before starting any training session, as well. Get the checklist to ensure you are not missing the other 3 before your next ride!

Today I am grateful for the beautiful low clouds full of moisture all around us. I am grateful all the animals were healthy this morning, and eager to get out and enjoy the morning. I am grateful it is Friday! #TGIF! I am grateful for my own drive and commitment to improvement, in all ways. I am grateful for my children, my family, my team, and my friends. I am grateful I was able to attend a friends birthday dinner last night, and that I luckily found just the right gift for her, a dish that said "All you need is love, and a dog"! Except, everyone made fun of me because it should have said DOGS! Don't you agree?!

Yesterday we had a great day, filming new videos on exactly how to use positive reinforcement, or R+ to accomplish all of the basics with horses, from catching (without ropes), to grooming (without restraint), to haltering (all with the animals 100% agreement), and finally basic leading and problem solving simple things like not walking, or crowding you, using only R+. I am excited for those videos to be edited and released, because I think they will be a big help for people to understand when they might already be using R+ without knowing it, and ways to avoid using 'No' when training animals, so that you set them up for success, and preserve and deepen your relationship with them, for every interaction.

So what about you, Animal Loving Angel, what are you looking forward to today? What was the best part of your yesterday? Are you thankful for the opportunities coming your way? Do you love your own company? Have you looked at yourself in the mirror, smiled, and just appreciated your unique talents and abilities, lately? There is no better time than today. So I encourage you right now, this instant, either stop scrolling on your phone and give yourself a high five in a mirror, or, switch on your camera on your phone, and give yourself a big smile. Don't be afraid of what you see there, embrace it! You are perfect just the way you are, with all of the imperfections that tell the tale of a life well lived. Animals don't care what we look like, they just appreciate us exactly as we are. And if they can, so can you.

So be kind to yourself today, and the animals, and make today, the best day ever. So that when you go to sleep tonight, you will do so with a big smile on your face, so pleased with all the wonderful tings you experienced on this beautiful day, this gift we have been given.

Wishing you all the very best Friday ever, may miracles come your way today!
