I was a little surprised yesterday when I was given the feedback that by now, not everyone knows I am a veterinarian, besides being a positive reinforcement, or R+ trainer. Even though, we honestly don't do strictly R+, especially these days as we work to bring horses safely to the rodeo parade. As soon as you set expectations, and a deadline, it gets very difficult to stick to just R+. However, we certainly use it as a foundation for all the rescue horses in our care, and stick to the principles of using the least amount of force possibly, and even then, only when it's a safety issue.

I am in the process of creating more classes for you to participate in, if you are local. Hope to have those ready to share by next week. And don't forget, the first of my summer 3 day clinics is right around the corner. June 26, 27, and 28th. We will review the Horse Training Masterclass, to start, and then practice how to work with horses without ever saying the words "NO", or "UH-uh", or putting pressure on lead ropes to force horses to do what we wish. Today I am grateful for the fact I woke up today and was able to get out of bed and stand without pain. I am grateful for my vision and the ability to see what I type. I am grateful for all the people in the world who love animals and wish to learn how to do better by them (that's you, you Animal Loving Angel!), for my staff, my family, my rooster, my career, and my life.
