Dr. Jena Questen

Join Dixie, Mr. Turkey, and the rest of the herd for a Monday update featuring an Evergreen Rodeo recap and new horse training clinics coming up. We are looking for volunteers to help with our animals, and horse people interested in improving their horse skills on the ground in our upcoming three-day ground training clinics using positive reinforcement. A limited number of scholarships are available for those for whom cost is a factor. Comment if you have questions about the clinic or volunteering. Looking forward to seeing you!

Today I am grateful we had a successful rodeo weekend. I know there are vegans out there wondering how I could possibly support a rodeo, and to that I would just say, better to be there on the inside, offering up a different, kinder, gentler, safer way of doing things, that works just as well, rather than trying to shut anyone down for how they do things now. Isn't that true for everything in life?

I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many kids, and adults, who just love animals and horses, which is what brings them to the rodeo, in the first place.

I am grateful my ankle didn't hurt much all weekend, despite the grueling schedule of the parade and then attending our booth for long hours all weekend.

I am grateful for all of the help I had to set up, staff, and take down the booth.

I am grateful for both Treasure the Bearded Dragon, and Mr. Turkey the rooster (his first public appearance) who did a perfect job of being ResqRanch ambassadors and bringing even more people in to the booth than we would have had without them. Great job! Turkey seems pretty proud of himself as you can tell in this morning's video!

What about you, Animal Loving Angel, what are you proud of yourself for doing this past weekend? Did you cut yourself some slack and do something kind for yourself? What about doing something kind for others, expecting nothing in return? I sure hope so, you deserve it!

And as you start this new week, realize it's the start of the second half of the year since the solstice was yesterday. So, if your plans for the rest of the year include improving your path with animals, I am here for you.

All my love,
DrQ
