Dr. Jena Questen

I am still navigating the difficult journey of loss here at the ranch.

It's time, though, for me to get back to sharing our rescue horse ranch life as we remember and keep in our hearts those who will never be forgotten, Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi. This morning captures the beauty of our animal sanctuary and the animals that are still here. They are the reason animal rescue keeps our hearts full. You know that's what is going to happen when you take on older animals that others don't want, to be there for them for those last years of their life. You know you are going to lose them. But the time you have with them makes it all worth it. It's still hard though.

Have you ever lost a beloved pet? How long did it take you to 'get over it"? I mean, I know you never really get over it.

Today I am grateful for the beautiful sunrise, that I woke up today, that I had Dixie, Sugar, and Wasabi in my life and look forward to seeing them again one day.

I am grateful my ankle hurts less, the weather is cooling down, the leaves are changing, and that I have a little more time now to concentrate on the other animals.

I am grateful for my awesome, hard working team at work, their hard work is really starting to pay off. We are short handed, and they are really stepping up, I am grateful for that.

I am grateful for being invited once again to the Riley's Pet Store customer appreciation event yesterday, and thankful they always think of us, and support us in so many ways. All truly wonderful people.

What about you, Animal Loving Angel, what are you grateful for today? Have you given yourself a high five in the mirror lately, just for showing up? I sure hope so. Remember, not everyone was lucky enough to wake up today. Somewhere in the world, there is a grieving family. There is always something to be grateful for. And all we can do, is try, to be a little better, every day, in every way.

Sending all my love, as always,

Please consider supporting our herd and the vital work we do for these animals.
