Dr. Jena Questen

Watching our beloved senior dogs slow down is never easy, but seeing them find relief makes every effort worth it. When our patients struggle with stiff joints, finding the right support can give them back their joy and mobility. In this behind the scenes look, I want to share a breakdown of two powerful options we use to manage arthritis and joint pain.

Of all the treatments we have tried for this sweet boy, his mom tells us that the Pentosan is the one thing she consistently sees making an improvement. Pentosan is an injection we give to both horses and dogs that actually helps protect and rebuild the cartilage in their joints.

The other thing we are going to do is give him a hyaluronic acid (HA) injection. I know that sounds crazy, but HA is literally just a natural component of your body, and it is a hydrophilic molecule. That means it attracts water. It helps bring water into the tissues, and in this specific case, it brings water into the articular cartilage to help make the joints soft and fluffy again.
